To mark the 200th anniversary of the start of work on the Rolle Canal we are organising a special one-off walk along the entire length of the Rolle Canal from Darkham Weir to Sea Lock, Annery Kiln. This will be a unique opportunity to see parts of the canal not generally open to the public including the canal basin at RHS Rosemoor, Town Mills, Staple Vale and Beam Aqueduct.
This is a challenging walk which will appeal to anyone with a sense of adventure! Parts of the walk are over rough and muddy terrain so robust footwear is essential. The walk will start at 10.30am from the woodland gate at the bottom of the car park at RHS Rosemoor and will take approximately 3½ – 4 hours. Refreshments will be provided at Sea Lock and transport will be provided back to RHS Rosemoor. We are asking each walker for a donation of £10 to cover the cost of refreshments, marshalling and administration. Booking is essential so if you would like to take part please complete the attached registration form and return to the Society secretary at [email protected] or post to Tony Nicholls, Valderia, Torrington Lane, Bideford EX39 4BT. Closing date for bookings: 30th September 2023 Please note: reasonable care will be exercised during the walk but walkers participate in the event at their own risk. NO DOGS - Much of the walk is on private land, so unfortunately dogs are not permitted! |
